Department of English

To make the women in and around Rajapalayam to compete with the competitive world, the Department of English was started in the year 1990. The Department of English is the only department that has contact with every student at the UG level.

B.A.English has been offered since 2003 with 28 students and 4 Staff. The Department of English aims at creating a global communicative and literary environment gained with profession expertise and life skills to make a refined student community. Now the department has 200 Students and 8 staff.

Since 2009 the department has produced 15 rank holders at university level. So far our department has bagged 2 first rank, 1 second rank, 2 third rank, 3 fourth ranks, 2 fifth rank, 1 sixth rank, 2 eighth ranks, 1 ninth rank and 1 tenth rank at university level. The department has a good library. The department conducts an Inter Collegiate Meet every year and conducts competitions like Paper Presentation, Pencil Drawing, Model Display, Literary Parade and Western Dance and gives prizes for winners.

We make our students learn to speak, read, and write effectively and to think deeply and to reflect on what they have learnt and to develop a deep understanding of language and literacy, the value of critical reading and effective writing, and the richness of literature, past and present. Thereby developing a deep understanding and appreciation of the finer aspects of life through scholastic pursuits in language and literature. It encourages the students to appear in competitive examinations also. The department is committed to enhance the linguistic competence and creative penetration of students.
